Parallel and alternate worlds are common knowledge. There exists technology which allows us to communicate through rifts in our reality. Each dimension, intrinsically linked by small, seemingly insignificant and common place objects. One such dimension is that of Callisto-73, wherein advanced space travel was among the first discovery by modern man.These days it is beyond universal. So familiar and mundane. Interplanetary travel is to the inhabitants of Dimension C-73 as intercontinental travel is to our universe. Which, in turn, has lead to many interplanetary wars over territories and resources. They have resulted in many genocides and severe economic pressures. Trillions of innocent lives left without a planet or moon to call home.There exists a rebellion, one who fights for those who have lost everything to the galactic governments' power-hungry selfishness. It started as a humble operation, spurred on by a the few who were able to evacuate before their home planet was completely obliterated by warring planet's crossfire. Those survivors, no more than 20 or 30, lost everything but their lives and each other. Many were left with severe and fatal radiation wounds, reducing their numbers quickly. They persisted on a moderately sized cargo spacecraft, drifting from planet to planet, trying to find asylum.Eventually, they discovered a planet largely inhabited by flora and fauna, cast in the shadow of other planets. With no signs of intelligent life, and their reserves in dire straits, the spacecraft docked in a tucked away corner of a wild rainforest. This planet had very short days and month long nights. Weather was consistent, any amount of significant sunlight was seen as a gift. Yet, it wasnt a dark planet. The native flora possessed a significant amount of phosphorus, and produced quite a bit of ambient light.The refugees quickly set up camp on this peaceful planet. They repaired their ships, hunted and gathered what edible food & potable water they could find, and organized supply runs & rescue missions as needed. They called themselves the Rebel Union of Freedom Fighters, or more commonly, RUFF. Many divisions were created within the group to cover as much ground as they could. There were homemakers, those who made and mended clothing, cooked for the community, . Blacksmiths and armourers. Engineers, mechanics, and contractors. Doctors and even a few educators for the younger refugees. And, perhaps the most glamorous job, were the pilots.Ace Kaisarion, one of the original survivors of the catastrophic explosion, is one such pilot. Having aided in the foundation of RUFF, he threw himself into the work. He had previously been a cargo pilot (importing and exporting goods between local planets) and thus had a great deal of experience in interplanetary travel. Only now instead of machinery or food, he transports other refugees from planets in similar situations.He has openly refused any sort of promotion or position of power, preferring to keep his boots to the ground and running dangerous rescue missions than strategize and dispatch his juniors. Even still, those who join the RUFF fleet greatly respect his seniority & work ethic. They still look to him for orders, advice, or assistance. They still view him as a leader, with or without the title. His squadron has saved hundreds, THOUSANDS, of innocent lives, and have charted them safely back to the RUFF base.
